What is a drug center?

A drug abuse centre is somewhere you or your loved one can go to effectively overcome a drug addiction. A drug abuse centre will involve a medicated detox and psychological and therapeutic treatments. This will allow you or your loved one to intensively address the physical and psychological dependence to the drug. This will all take place within the confines of a safe, professional and supportive environment.

A drug abuse centre will provide intensive support for a whole manner of addictive drugs. This includes heroin, cocaine, cannabis, ketamine and prescription drug addictions. You or your loved one can expect to take part in a variety of one-to-one sessions, group sessions and structured activities within a drug center. These are all aimed at promoting abstinence and preventing relapse, and to effectively rehabilitate you or your loved one back into society.

If you or your loved one wants to access such drug centers, it is important to act quickly. Triage Healthcare offers an immediate response service. Our helpline is open 7 days a week, and has a 24 hour messaging service which will be responded to by one of our trained advisors as soon as possible should you call out of hours. When considering private treatment it is important to know exactly what you are getting for your money.

When should someone go to a drug abuse center?

Drug centres are the ideal treatment for any form of drug dependence. Trathen et al. (2008) in Guidelines for the Best Practice Treatment of Substance Misuse state that only a minority of people who take drugs will experience problematic drug use thereafter. Someone should seriously consider drug centres as part of their recovery if they suspect they are one of these individuals.

If you believe that drugs centers are going to be feasible for you or your loved one, call us now. We are staffed by highly experienced and expert professionals in addiction medicine and counselling, who are ethically bound to give you advice according to the latest evidence of what works, and who are not allowed to advise you according to a profit motive. Rather we will find you the best value treatment given your particular circumstances and wishes.

There are a telephone of indicators that your loved one may need to access a drugs center. There may be noticeable behavioural or mood changes, such as agitation, secrecy and deception. Their behaviour may become very unpredictable. Their sleep may be disturbed and they may appear continuously unwell. You may also find drug paraphernalia amongst their possessions, such as cigarette papers, needles and small weighing scales.

Withdrawal symptoms are also a good indicator of a drug dependence (Trathen et al., 2008).  Opiate withdrawal symptoms include a depressive mood, diarrhoea, vomiting, chills, insomnia, agitation and muscle ache. Amphetamine and cocaine withdrawal symptoms include a depressive mood, tiredness, increased or decreased time spent sleeping, bad dreams and increased appetite.

Where to detox from drug abuse

The most immediate way to access a residential drug clinic is via privately funded means. Triage Healthcare work with residential drug clinics all over the UK. Our team of advisors are on hand to help you find treatment suited to your budget and needs.

It is possible to access private overseas services. This option can be particularly appealing to those individuals who have already accessed help in the UK with limited success. By travelling overseas to access a residential drug clinic, the person is completely removed from their problematic surroundings. Overseas treatment can also represent better value for money in some cases.

It is also possible to access a free residential drug treatment centre via NHS services. Whilst it would clearly be preferable to receive treatment without having to pay for it, it is important to remember that there is an imbalance between availability of addiction treatment in the NHS and the demand in the community. Therefore, there can often be long waiting lists involved when trying to access the NHS options.

How long could treatment on a drug detox program take?

A drug detox typically takes a minimum of two weeks for all drug addictions. However, this can vary according to individual circumstances. Most importantly, people should remain in a residential drug treatment centre for at least six weeks in order to benefit from the psychological and therapeutic treatments offered there.

How much does a private drug detox program cost?

Triage Healthcare recognises that there is a deficit in the provision of affordable private residential drug centres for addictions in the UK. High quality free advice and information is provided to all, as well as best-value private treatment to individuals with a limited budget. If you arrange treatment in a residential drug centre through triage Healthcare you will never pay more and in some cases you will pay less for treatment than by booking direct with a residential drug centre.
