We are often told that prevention is better than a cure, and this is certainly true in the case of addiction.  But while health services run campaigns that desperately try to impact on people the negative effects drugs have on your health, social life and finances, there are those that did not hear the warning soon enough, or many that have plainly ignored it. 

But while these campaigns are struggling to prevent new people being sucked into the trap that is addiction, what can be done for those that are already ensnared?  The unfortunate truth is that many drug users are more likely to be younger in age, ranging from 18-24 years old, and often become users as a result of their social circle (Home Office, 2011).  In many cases it is also this destructive social circle that prevents an individual from freeing themselves of drugs, and it can lead to an individual becoming dependent on a substance, and by this point it becomes much more difficult for a person to break their habit.

It is usually at this point at which an individual or those around them decide that they wish to attend one of the many rehabs available to help treat an addiction.  It is a difficult choice for any individual to attend a treatment centre and it is important that they receive support in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.
